Urgent Request for Information
August 11, 2009
Dear
Friends:
As you
know, nonprofit health and human service organizations are facing an
unprecedented crisis as a result of delays in finalizing state and
local government budgets this year. Happening at a
time when other sources of relief such as foundations and private
donors are also struggling means that the social safety net that
nonprofits have created for our region's most vulnerable citizens is
becoming seriously frayed.
Through
an brief informal survey
that can be found by following the link below, United Way of
Southeastern Pennsylvania seeks your
help in better defining the crisis facing nonprofit health and human
service organizations in the region. The
information you provide
here will be kept strictly confidential and will not be shared outside
of United Way.
Information from all agencies that respond will be
aggregated, however, so that we can better inform policymakers and the
public about the serious challenge facing the network of
community-based services in our region.
While
the survey requests identifying information on your agency, providing
that information is optional. We believe the survey should
take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.
Please
help. Ten minutes of your time will help us make sure that
political leaders, the media, funders and other decisionmakers in our
region fully grasp the enormity of the crisis facing us.
As
always, please feel free to contact me with any questions at dfair@uwsepa.org.
Thanks
for your time and attention.
